Frequently asked questions
Q1: You want to increase Taxonomy research. Isn’t Taxonomy about stuffing animals?
A: That’s taxidermy. Taxonomy is about classifying and giving names to things. We call people who classify and name species Taxonomists.
Q2: Can I choose my species?
A: We think it is important that there is a special human connection to every species. Little is known about most species so people would be unlikely to choose most species. For this reason ecoconnected species are randomly selected from all named species. Our core project is about breaking down the task of being conscious of every species.
Seperately we do offer ecoconnect choose if you would like to choose your own species. This may be a pathway for more regional partnerships with us too.
Q3: Can I ecoconnect myself?
A: Yes you can ecoconnect yourself. Just fill in both fields as you go to pay for your ecoconnection. We think it is nice if you could find a friend to ecoconnect you and you could ecoconnect your friend. In this way this personal connection can be an encouragement to find out about your species.
Q4: Are you a not for profit tax deductible gift recipient?
When you ecoconnect someone you are buying a service to give your friend a gift. Your friend is the recipient, not us. We are a ‘profit with a purpose’, global, startup, research business. We think that profit and a purpose, to satisfy stakeholders in research and our ecoconnected community, will enable us with incentives to have a bigger impact faster. If you are a large contributor we would be pleased to discuss arrangements to suit your commercial situation. Businesses may see ecoconnections as a deductible business expense.
Q5 What do I get?
The short answer is, a randomly allocated species from all named species by email. The long answer involves intangible benefits and is explored more here.
Make a difference. Get ecoconnected.
